A brief presentation of Supervised Tree Climbing

Tree climbing is an outdoor activity that is both fun and sporty, accessible to all. Young and old, with or without disabilities.

It is about discovering our friends the trees using rope climbing techniques.

All the installations are temporary and respect the tree. They are therefore adapted to the group and the project.

To be differentiated from acrobatic courses in height, where participants follow a defined course, without exchanges and without accompaniment. Tree climbing is a moment that we share together.

Respect for the tree is essential for us and the only modification we make to it is a pruning of the fragile dead branches, in order to ensure the safety of the participants.

The possibilities of activities in the tree are numerous, as are the possible installations (table, hammock, net, but also zip line, pendulum jump and rope bridge ...).

The professional qualification certification Tree Climbing Educator is the only diploma in the world allowing to supervise the public in trees outside of a defined course on fixed structures (high ropes courses).

All tree climbing educators respect the code of ethics of this practice: https://www.les-ega.fr/le-metier-dega/#code-de-deontologie

It presents the general attitude adopted by the supervisor, the principles he implements for the protection of the site and the trees and finally the relationship with the participants and their safety.

Each educator can supervise up to 8 people in the tree and holds professional insurance covering the participants.

We only use standardized equipment. It is checked and monitored regularly, all of this is recorded in a Personal Safety Equipment register.

Before practicing, I do a site survey and I carry out a health diagnosis of each tree used as well as a risk analysis of the site, these documents are formalized in writing, and can be transmitted to the organizing structure and the owner of the site.

This activity can be practiced anywhere with the agreement of the owner. A site agreement is then signed, which releases him from any responsibility.
